Dr. Roberto Rumbaut is one of the most experienced lap band surgeon in Mexico and in all of the Americas. He has been an open bariatric surgeon since 1993. and a laparoscopic bariatric surgeon since 1994. Dr. Roberto Rumbaut became a pioneer lap band surgeon when he left Mexico in 1996 to study at the University of Padova in Italy with bariatric surgeon Dr. Franco Favretti. Under the direction of Dr. Favretti, who innovated and standardized the surgical technique for lap band surgery, Dr. Rumbaut developed his skills as a lap band surgeon. Upon his return to Monterrey, Mexico, he went on to specialize in the lap band procedure. He has now performed over 4,300 lap band surgeries, more than any other bariatric surgeon in the western hemisphere.

In addition to his busy practice at the Obesity Surgery Center in Monterrey, Dr. Rumbaut participates in bariatric surgery workshops in Mexico and around the world on a regular basis. He has trained hundreds of surgeons in laparoscopic LAPBAND® placement throughout Latin America and the United States, including his own selected lap band surgery team in Monterrey, Mexico. As a member of the Medical Advisory Committee for Bioenterics® LAP-BAND® System, he is part of an exclusive bariatric surgeon community approved to train and proctor lap band surgeons in the United States. Dr. Roberto Rumbaut has also served as an expert health consultant for INAMED Health on many occasions.
