MBBS

Selected by a statewide premedical test in 1988 for MBBS course at the Siddhartha Medical College, Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh. The course consisted of four and a half years of training at medical school followed by a one-year internship. Passed all professional examinations on the first attempt and completed the internship in 1994.

MD

Selected for MD (General Medicine) at Army Hospital R&R, Delhi University in 1995, on the basis of academic merit. The three-year course was completed and passed on the first attempt in 1998.

Diplomate of National Board (Cardiology)

Selected for this course by a competitive examination in Jan 2000, while working at the Escorts Heart Institute & Research Centre. The course consisted of rigorous training in all disciplines of Cardiology, including Invasive, Non-Invasive, and Pediatric Cardiology. Passed the final exams conducted by the National Board of Examinations (India) in March 2003.

Honoured by the Diplomate of National Board with the Dr. Wazir Gold Medal for the best student for the year 2003. This gold medal is conferred once in 3 years and is awarded to only 2 candidates in all of India.


Passed the distinguished examination by the International Board of Heart Rhythm Examiners(IBHRE) an affiliate of the Heart Rhythm Society and was conferred with “Certified Cardiac Device Specialist” in 2007. The only Resident Indian to have this certification.


Honoured by the Indian Medical Association-Academy of Medical Sciences with the Distinguished Service Award for the year 2007-2008


Professional Experience:

Cardiology:

Worked for nine years in Dept. of Cardiology at Escorts Heart Institute & Research Centre, New Delhi, in various positions, after joining as post-MD senior resident in October 1998.

Senior Resident Cardiology: Oct. 8 1998 to Jan. 7-2002

Attending Cardiologist Jan. 7-2002 to Dec 2004

Consultant Cardiologist Dec. 2004 to Present


Cardiac Electrophysiology:

Primary interest in cardiac electrophysiology and management of arrhythmias. Trained in Cardiac Electrophysiology at Escorts Heart Institute & Research Centre. Have been performing electrophysiologic studies and Radiofrequency catheter ablation for various cardiac arrhythmias regularly. Performing Device implantations, including Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillators, Dual and Single Chamber Pacemakers, Biventricular pacemakers and combination devices.


International Training in Cardiac Electrophysiology:

Participated in a three-month observership (May-June 2006) at a leading-edge cardiac electrophysiology laboratory (St. Luke’s and Aurora Sinai Medical Centers, Milwaukee, WI, USA) under the direction of Dr. Jasbir Sra and Dr. Masood Akhtar. Trained and observed catheter ablation and cardiac mapping procedures for complex arrhythmias including atrial fibrillation, atypical atrial flutters and ventricular tachycardias. Participated in research into application of high-resolution 3D imaging techniques for the treatment of cardiac arrhythmias.


Invasive Cardiology:

Worked in cardiac catheterization laboratory exclusively for over two years. Performing coronary and peripheral angiographies regularly during this period. I have also assisted with angioplasties.


Non-Invasive Cardiology:

Non-invasive Cardiac Lab including Transthoracic echocardiography, Transesophageal echocardiography, stress echocardiography, dobutamine stress echo, vascular Doppler-carotid, peripheral and renal dopplers.
