Skills: Specialized in the diagnosis and management of non cancerous and cancerous growths of the head and neck region like thyroid diseases, precancerous and cancerous diseases of mouth, lips, nose etc. Had specialized training in the field of Neurotology and Skull Base Surgery. Neurotology includes treatment of vascular growths from the major blood vessels supplying the brain, facial nerve disorders, hearing restoration surgery including cochlear implantation and BAHA, approaching tumors of brain like Acoustic Neuromas and management of patients with dizziness and tinnitus. Skull base surgery includes approaches to the base of brain both anterior and lateral in conjunction with neurosurgeons.


PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                       University of Cincinnati, Cincinnati, OH, USA: University of Cincinnati has the largest series of Neurotological procedures and of Cochlear Implants and Bone Anchored Hearing Aids (BAHA) in the US. Some of the performed surgeries include:
BAHA for single sided deafness.
Obliteration of the ear cavity using ones own bone, surgical repair of lesions of the great blood vessels, which supply the brain.
Middle fossa approach (opening of the skull) for removal of tumors of the balance nerve, decompression and for lesions of the facial nerve.
Repair of defects causing brain protrusion into the ear.
Jugular fossa approaches for Glomus tumors.  
Endolymphatic sac decompression for patients with Menieres disease
Temporal bone resections
Medical management (Epleys manouvre) for patients with Benign Positional Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo.

Roswell Park Cancer Institute, Buffalo, USA: One of the twelve centers recognized for training in head and neck cancers in USA and one of the few centers forming part of the National Cancer Network, responsible for formulating staging and treatment plans for cancers. Performed surgeries include:
Voice preservation cancer surgery
Transfer of tissue for reconstruction (free flaps and pedicled flaps)
Anterior craniofacial surgeries
Photocoagulation of lesions in the mouth
Salivary gland removal for both cancerous and non cancerous growths
Thyroid and parathyroid surgeries
Neck dissections
Mandibulectomy both as an approach for parapharyngeal lesions and also for cancerous lesions involving the bone.
Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences, Cochin, India: The first center in the country to start a training programme in Head and Neck surgery recognized by the Medical Council of India. I was also one of the first fellows to join this programme. Was exposed to the basics of cancer diagnosis and management.
 Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER):
This is one of the premier institutions in the world. I was responsible for imparting surgical training and supervising the residents in training.
