GENERAL SURGERY 

Mauricio Canavati, MD earned his medical degree from the University of Nuevo Leon Medical School, Monterrey, Mexico in August 1998. His residency work includes a General Surgery residency at the Christus Muguerza Monterrey Hospital 2000-2004, and rotations at the Trauma Hospital IMSS/ Regional Hospital IMSS, at the Teachers Hospital in Mexico. Dr. Canavati also completed residency work at U.S. hospitals including Breast Surgical Oncology at the Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas, and Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City. In 1996 he completed the Elective Program in CV Surgery for Medical Students at the Texas Heart Institute, in Houston. He was board certified by the Mexican Council of General Surgery April 2004. Dr. Canavati is a Member of the American Society of Breast Surgeons and the American Society of Breast Diseases. He also received the Breast Surgical Oncology Fellowship at the Stehlin and DeIpolyi Oncology Clinic & Stehlin Foundation for Cancer Research at Christus St. Joseph Hospital in Houston, Texas in 2004 and 2005.
