  • Dr. Anoop Misra is presently the Director of Department of Diabetes & Metabolic Diseases for Fortis Rajan Dhall Hospital, New Delhi. He joined Fortis after 10 distinguished years as Professor of Internal Medicine, Head, Diabetes and Metabolism Research Group, and In charge, Clinical Pharmacology Unit at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi, bringing with him more than 25 years experience. He has worked internationally as a faculty member of the Department of Endocrinology at the Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Texas USA. He was also the World Health Organization fellow at Royal Free Hospital, UK. Dr. Misra completed his MD in Medicine from AIIMS in 1983.

  • Dr. Misra is a WHO Expert Committee member on childhood obesity, and obesity in Asians as well as a member of several National Committees on diabetes and cardiovascular diseases in India. He has been a WHO Expert for National Diabetes Control Programme for the DPR Korea.

  • Dr Misra has published more than 150 scientific papers in the international journals. He has received several prestigious orations and awards including the Dr BC Roy award (2006), and Searle Award (2006). He has several new scientific findings to his credit. He is in editorial boards of five international journals on diabetes and metabolic disorders including: ‘Nutrition, Metabolism, and Cardiovascular diseases (Italy)’, ‘Metabolic Syndrome and Related Disorders (USA)’, Diabetes Research and Clinical Practice’ (UK), ‘International Diabetes Monitor (Sweden)’, and ‘Medical Science Monitor (USA), and is Associate Editor of “Diabetes and Metabolic Syndrome: Research and Reviews (Singapore). He is also editor of “Year Book of Diabetes, 2006”. He is a reviewer for several prestigious international journals including ‘The Lancet’. ‘Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism’ and ‘Circulation”. He is Chief Scientific Advisor, Diabetes Foundation (India) and Vice President, Diabetes (India). He is in International Advisory Committee of multinational pharmaceutical companies including Sanofi Aventis and Eli Lilly. He has carried out several international multicenter collaborative clinical research studies with multinational pharmaceutical companies.

  • He has served as Personal Physician to two former Prime Ministers of India.
