Dr. Subash Gupta has done more than 120 liver transplants. 

 

Profile

Started liver transplantation in Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, New Delhi. Developed retrieval of extended right lobe grafts and developed right lobe transplant techniques such as transplantation without venovenous bypass, bloodless transplant techniques and fasttracking of patients post transplant with extubation within a few hours of surgery, elimination of parenteral nutrition, and decreasing use of antibiotics.

Introduced similar techniques in Apollo Hospitals with excellent liver transplant results.

FURTHER CLINICAL EXPERIENCE FOLLOWING COMPLETION OF SURGICAL TRAINING IN INDIA

Following completion of general and specialist training at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, it is usual for young surgeons to take on a junior consultant position. This is known as a Pool Officer and supports the work of the established consultant team. This period, whilst strictly not a training post, acts as the equivalent of a post-graduate fellowship and is limited to a maximum of three years.
