Education and Specialty

Doctor Vega graduated from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Panama in 1978.  In 1983 completed a residency in gynecology and obstetrics, at the Doctor Arnulfo Arias Madrid Metropolitan Hospital Complex of the Caja del Seguro Social in Panama.  Attended a course of Colposcopy of the Faculty of Medicine and the Panamanian Association of Obstetrics and Gynecologists and a course on Perinatal and Gynecological Infections at the Albert Einstein Faculty of Medicine in Tarryton, New York.  In 1984 received a limited license to practice in the State of New York and attended post graduated studies of maternal and fetal medicine at the Albert Einstein Faculty of Medicine and Affiliated Hospitals, in Bronx, New York in 1985.  In the same year, attended the University of Yale, in New Haven, Connecticut for a course of Diagnostic Ultrasound.  In 1987, attended the course of Diagnostic and Handling of the Sterile Couple, Artificial Insemination and In Vitro Fertilization and Embryo Transference at the Colombian Center of the Fertility and Sterility. 

In 1989, a Gynecological Intraabdominal Laser Workshop at the HCA Laser Training Center in Nashville, Tennessee.  In 1990, in Vail, Colorado, attended a course of Preliminary Steps for the Clinical Handling of the Reproductive Disorders by the American Association of Fertility.  In 1992, attended a course of Advanced Gynecological Surgery, by the American Association of Obstetrics and Gynecology in Washington D.C.  An update on Reproductive Medicine by the American Society of Fertility in New Orleans, Louisiana, also in 1992. 

In 1993, a course in Advanced Gynecological Surgery for Prolapse and Incontinence, by the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, in Washington, D.C.  Handling of Complex Pregnancies by the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, in Las Vegas, Nevada, in 1994.  Gynecological Pathology, Endocrinology and High Risk Obstetrics at Johns Hopkins, in Baltimore, Maryland, in 1995.  In 1996 attended a course in Common Problems in pediatric and adolescent Gynecology by the American Society of Reproductive Medicine in Boston, Massachusetts.  In the same year, attended a course in Advanced Endoscopic Surgery and a course in Specific Fetal Ultrasound by the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology in Denver, Colorado. 

In 1998, attended a course in Polycystic Ovaries Syndrome and new treatment options by the American Association of Reproductive medicine, in San Francisco, California in 1998.  A course in Infectious Perinatal Diseases by the Society of Perinatal Obstetricians in Miami, Florida, also in 1998.  A course in Vaginal versus Abdominal Laparoscopy for the correction of Incontinence and Prolapse by the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in 1999. 

In 2000, attended a course in Obstetric Intensive Care by the Society of Maternal Fetal Medicine, in Miami, Florida.  In 2001, attended a course in New Therapies to handle the Polycystic Ovaries Syndrome by the American Society of Reproductive Medicine in Orlando, Florida.  In 2002, a course in Advanced Surgery for the Pelvic Floor Dysfunction by the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology in Los Angeles, California.

 

Major Positions Held

From 1983 through 1985, Doctor Vega was a fellow of obstetrics and gynecology at the Albert Einstein Faculty of Medicine, Bronx, New York.  From 1985 through 1986, he was Assistant Professor of obstetrics and gynecology at the Albert Einstein Faculty of Medicine, Bronx, New York.  From 1985 through 1986, he was Chief of High Risk Obstetrics, at the North Central Bronx Hospital of the Montefiore Medical Center, Medical Director of the Center of Obstetrics and Gynecology, in 1986 and Medical Director of the Assisted Reproduction Center in 2002.  

 

Memberships

Doctor Vega is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, member of the Panamanian Society of Gynecology and Obstetrics, associated member of the American Association of Ultrasound and Medicine, associated member of the American Fertility Association and associated member of the New York Perinatal Association.

Publications

Doctor Vega has published in the American Journal of Perinatology and in publications by the New York Perinatal Association and the Perinatal Association of Obstetricians.
