 WORK EXPERIENCE:
September 2008 to date: Consultant Surgical Oncologist Apollo Comprehensive cancer care center, Bannerghatta road , Bangalore
October 2007 to September 2008 : Consultant surgical oncologist and associate professor at Vydehi Institute of Oncology in Whitefield  Bangalore.
The Institute of Oncology is proposed to have 300 bedded infrastructure, and currently houses state of the art Image Guided Radiotherapy. In this center I have been involved in performing full range of oncologic surgeries including head and neck surgeries with microvascular reconstruction. Thoracic and gastrointestinal malignancies. Gynecologic oncologic surgeries and limb preservation surgeries for bone and soft tissue tumours.
JANUARY TO MARCH 2008- Worked at Washington Cancer Center under the UICC ICRETT fellowship  under Dr Paul Sugarbaker in the peritoneal surface malignancy program.
UICC- ICRETT fellowship is a technology transfer fellowship awarded on the basis of peer review. The purpose of this fellowship was to learn the technique of radical peritonectomy and intraperitoneal chemotherapy. This procedure is currently applied in pseudomyxoma peritoneii, peritoneal mesothelioma and carcinoma ovary with peritoneal metastases.  I have performed a few of these procedures on return to my home institute.

AUGUST 2006 TO AUGUST 2007- Specialist Registrar in Surgical Oncology at Tata Memorial Hospital Mumbai.
    Tata Memorial Hospital is Asia’s largest comprehensive cancer centre located in Mumbai and is one of the leading cancer centres in the world. As specialist registrar I I was involved in performing the entire range of pelvic malignancies including rectal cancers, gynaecologic and urologic malignancies. I have also been exposed to minimally invasive oncologic surgery for rectal and gynaecologic malignancies. I was involved in maintaining of clinical database of patients and also a part of various randomized control trials which are still underway. I have done a course in clinical research methodology during my stay in Tata Memorial Hospital

JULY 2003 TO AUGUST 2006- Senior Resident (MCh)in Surgical Oncology at Tata memorial Hospital Mumbai.
As MCh resident I had 6 month rotations in head and neck oncology, thoracic, breast,  and gynaecologic oncology.  I have been trained in comprehensive management of all these malignancies

AWARDS AND ACHIEVEMENTS:
1.    Awarded the UICC- ICRETT fellowship  Jan to March 2008  to visit Washington Cancer Center to learn management of peritoneal surface malignancies by radical peritonectomy and intraperitoneal chemotherapy. Worked under Dr Paul Sugarbaker in the peritoneal surface malignancy program
2.    Stood First in the Superspeciality entrance test conducted at all India level by the Directorate of Medical Education, Maharashtra.
3.    Passed the MBBS, MS and MCh exams in first attempt.
4.    Best Outgoing student for literary activities from Mysore Medical College
5.    Third in the state level psychiatry quiz conducted by the Karnataka Psychiatric Society.
6.    Recipient of the National Talent Search Examination Scholarship for Karnataka state.
7.    Qualified for the National Maths Olympiad from Karnataka State .
8.    21th in the whole state merit list in SSC examination in 1991

Skill set:   - skilled in performing full range of oncologic surgeries head and neck, thoracic, GI, Genitourinary and Gynecologic malignancies.
-    Have basic skills in laparoscopic gynecologic and  gastrointestinal oncologic surgeries
-    Well versed in clinical data maintenance using software like MS Access and SPSS and in clinical research methodologies


EXTRA-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES:
·    Active participation in organising all Annual Socials and Festivals of Mysore  Medical College between 1993 and 1998. Also represented college in various intercollegiate events and competitions during the same period.
·    Have participated and won in more than 50 intercollegiate quiz competitions.
·    Rendered voluntary services as a medical officer for National Pulse Polio Immunization Program, School Health camps, outdoor camps organized by various social organizations.
