Pericardial Effusion (fluid around the heart)

Pericardial Effusion is condition of abnormal accumulation of fluid in the pericardial cavity. Abnormal accumulation of fluid in the pericardial cavity will increase intrapericardial pressure, which can negatively affect heart function, to a condition called cardiac tamponade.
Echocardiogram and CT scan or MRI scan can be used to find Pericardial Effusion.
