Accreditation Canada is a not-for-profit, independent organization accredited by the International Society for Quality in Healthcare (ISQua). Accreditation Canada provides national and international health care organizations with an external peer review process to assess and improve the services they provide to their patients and clients based on standards of excellence. Accreditation Canada's programs and guidance have helped organizations promote quality health care for over 50 years.

Accreditation Canada's clients include Regional Health Authorities, hospitals, and community-based programs and services, from both private and public sectors, not only in Canada but around the world.

Patient safety is an integral component of the accreditation programs. Complying with Accreditation Canada standards and Required Organizational Practices reduce the potential for adverse events occurring within health care and service organizations.

Accreditation standards assess governance, risk management, leadership, infection prevention and control, and medication management, as well as services in over 30 sectors, including acute care, home care, rehabilitation, community and public health, labs and blood banks, and diagnostic imaging.

Accreditation Canada International

Accreditation Canada's international department, Accreditation Canada International, promotes accreditation around the world.

Accreditation Canada's accreditation program is adaptable, culturally sensitive, and competitively priced. Implementation of the accreditation program and cycle is flexible depending on the client's level of readiness.

Accreditation Canada works with international governments, helping them achieve independence in accreditation by establishing accreditation agencies and customizing accreditation programs. Accreditation Canada's first international hospital accreditation took place in the early 1980s. Currently, its international clients are located in the Middle East, Europe, the Caribbean, and Latin America.
