The IMTA Organization

IMTA logoThe Indian Medical Travel Association or IMTA - a unified voice of the Indian healthcare (modern medicine as well as traditional Indian medicine) and travel industry - is aimed at preparing India for facing the challenges of global competition in Medical Tourism space and actualise the tremendous opportunity for India to become a leading global healthcare destination .

IMTA is a non-profit organisation and operates with the guidance received from its Advisory Board.

IMTA Advisory Board members comprise of industry leaders from Hospitals, Healthcare (both Modern Medicine and Traditional Indian Medicine), Healthcare Quality Organisations, Academia, IT, Travel and Tourism Industry and Overseas Corporate, Insurance and Facilitation services providers.

The roles of the IMTA Advisory Board members are multi-fold:

  • To define the strategic direction of the IMTA, ensuring it brings added value to our members and to those who participate in our offerings.
  • To "connect" the IMTA with all aspects of our industry and to enhance our offerings through broader access, participation and partnerships.
  • To represent the IMTA. Promote our mission and reflect the values that all healthcare and medical travel professionals share as members of our organization.

To empower all stakeholders in Indian Medical Travel Industry and work together to make India the leading Global Healthcare Destination.

IMTA Mission

  • To promote and provide a forum for communication on a regular basis for exchange of views, development of industry networks, creation and distribution of knowledge, establishment of standards and work on an agenda to make India the leading global healthcare destination.
  • To promote and protect the safety and well-being of patients who choose India for their healthcare needs by creating channels for communication between patients, healthcare providers, overseas insurance and corporate referral groups, consultants and physicians from around the world.
  • To serve as a strong voice of the medical travel industry to Indian and Overseas media and raise awareness about the high level of quality healthcare and services available in India. The IMTA would also engage with other key stakeholders like the various arms of Central and State Governments in India to influence public policy in national interest.
  • To educate its members on new technologies, marketing techniques and best practices that will help Indian Medical Travel industry participants operate more efficiently in the global healthcare industry.
