FORTIS STRENGTHENS ITS PRESENCE IN SOUTH INDIA: Announces its 52nd Hospital in Pondicherry

Fortis Malar Hospitals Ltd., a subsidiary of Fortis Healthcare Ltd., has taken over operations and Management of East Coast Hospital in Pondicherry. With this initiative, Fortis Healthcare which is India’s fastest growing hospital network has expanded its presence in South India adding to the existing facilities in Chennai and Bangalore.

East Coast Hospital is presently a 100 bedded facility and the plan is to expand it to a 250 bed facility in the near future. The rechristened “Fortis East Coast Hospital” is the first corporate hospital in Pondicherry. It is a multi- speciality hospital and among the few in the Union Territory with a high end critical care facility.

East Coast Hospital offers comprehensive medical services with special focus on Cardiac sciences , Nephrology, Urology , Orthopaedics , Neurology & Neuro Surgery, Paediatric and Gynecology. Additionally, the hospital offers complete diagnostic services like Radiology and laboratories and has well-equipped Operation Theatres. The hospital plans to expand its medical programmes by upgrading its services in Cardiology, Cardio Thoracic Surgery, Trauma and Replacements, Transplants and Critical Care.
