BRACHIOPLASTY OR ARM LIFT SURGERY

A brachioplasty, or arm lift, is a surgical procedure to remove loose skin and excess fat deposits in the upper arm cause as the upper arm skin becomes loose and flabby with age giving it a droopy and saggy appearance.

An armlift surgery reduces excess skin and fat in your upper arm, reshapes your arm to achieve a smoother skin and contours, and gives your arm a more toned and proportionate appearance - all of which cannot be addressed by exercising though exercising may help a great deal in strengthening and improving the underlying muscle tone of the upper arm

DETAILS OF THE PROCEDURE

Before the procedure begins, you will be given either general anesthesia or intravenous sedation. Your surgeon will start out by making incisions on your arm. The length and pattern of incisions made will depend on the amount and location of excess skin to be removed as well as on your plastic surgeon. Generally, incisions will be made on the inside or back of your arm extending from your underarm to the elbow. Or your surgeon may make minimal incisions depending on your specific needs. After the incisions have been made, yoursurgeon will tighten and reshape the underlying supportive tissue with internal sutures. Finally, the skin is smoothed over the new contour of your arm. If fat is to be reduced from your arm during the surgery, it will be treated with liposuction.

AFTER THE SURGERY

The sutures will be absorbed automatically in case absorbable sutures were used for closing the incision. Otherwise the stitches will be removed within 1-2 weeks following your arm lift surgery.

The results of brachioplasty are apparent immediately after the surgery. Your arm will appear shapely and toned and feel smooth although the initial results may be slightly obscured by swelling and bruising.
